sadly DNF at Chapter 1. I had high hopes for this but it was very boring and the writing was really pretentious. It’s disgusting just for the sake of being disgusting and shocking. It felt as if it’s written by a teenager idk it wasn’t for me.

This was a lot more fun than I thought it would be. I think I thought it would be quite dark being set in a psychiatric ward. There is actually a lot of humour in here. The main character is quite amusing in her thoughts and opinions. The interactions between inmates also made me smile on occasion. I have to say that I feel the ending was a little left field. But the way the book seemed to mimic the main characters emotions as she got deeper into the mystery was clever. But I didn't like it enough to make me seek out more by the author.
The new masterpiece from the Sunday Times number one bestseller Alice Armitage is a police officer. Or she was . Or perhaps she just imagines she was. Whatever the truth is, following a debilitating bout... (Go to edition)

I now consider myself an avid Eric LaRocca fan. I will read anything this man puts out. I find his form of horror a kind of car crash horror; you know its going to be bad, you know its going to be gruesome and disturbing but you cannot help keep looking. My favourite book in this collection was 'All the Parts of You That Won't Easily Burn'. I loved the way that it starts out very innocent seeming and goes down such a twisted rabbit hole that I could never see coming. I will pre order anything by Eric LaRocca and cannot recommend him enough.

I think this is my third read through of this book, I do really like it. The writing is so immersive and the words flow so well that it is a book that I have just flown through. I like the way the world is explained in this book and how the introduction to the series is started. Fitz is a great character, I love the way that he seems to know what he believes in and sticks by it most of the time. There are parts of this book that I found funny, heart breaking and intriguing. I'm looking forward to reading through the entire Realm of the Elderlings this time.

I did enjoy this book, but not as much as I thought I was going to. It read very YA, I thought there was going to be more complicated politics than there actually was. The main characters were ok but quite straightforward, their actions and thoughts were very black and white. I liked the relationships with the dragons and would like that to be explored more as the series progresses. It was quite predictable but I did like the world building and I will pick up the next one whenever it come out.

In the first three novels Falcio does what he thinks is the right thing to do in the moment without much thought to long term consequences. He now must face those consequences and decide if he will go after what he wants or defend the laws he has championed for most of his life.
I'm going to miss Falcio, Kest, and Brasti! This is certainly towards the top of my all time favorite series.
